The country called Kenya is one of the best known safari destinations in Africa. At its peak, the country attracts over 1.5 million tourists every year. Tourism is one the best earners of the Kenyan economy . Kenya is truly blessed in terms of its natural attractions but there are some worth mentioning more than the rest.

Home to the Seventh Wonder of the World, the 1530km2, or 590 square mile Maasai Mara National reserve from July and November hosts the world renowned wildebeest's migration spectacle. Due to its rowdy nature, that sees wildebeest cross the crocodile infested Mara River, international tourists pitch camp near the crossing point and wait for days to witness it.

At the Masai Mara, all the "Big Five" wild animals can be seen here including the elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and the buffalo. The best vantage point to see the wild animals is at the Mara River as well as the Esoit Oloololo escarpment. For better views of the creatures, take a hot air balloon tour that can be organize by local tour companies.

Another unique attraction is at the Lake Bogoria found in the Rift Valley province. This lake is made famous for its hot springs and geysers where its said one can boil an egg within minutes. The geysers spew out mountains of very hot water from underground. The waters are said to have healing properties in them. The good thing is that we don't have many people visiting this place so its good for picnics. The wild animals found here include gazelles and hippos plus 135 bird species including the flamingos that feed on the algae of the lake.

The other unique attraction in Kenya is the coastal city of Mombasa known for its warm weather, laid back people, sandy beaches and clear waters. Mombasa is hot and humid all year round and this makes it a good attraction all year round. Mombasa has many places that one can visit but some of the places that stand out include Fort Jesus and the Gedi ruins.

For an adrenaline junkie, Nyali is the complete Kite and Wind Surfing destination run by Prosurf Kenya. The undersea Indian Ocean coral reef paradise teems with unique beautiful fish breeds. Dhow trips are offered to visitors wanting to get a feel of ancient maritime ocean excursions.

Seven kilometers, or 4.34 miles from the City Centre, is the 117km2, or 45sq. mile Nairobi National park, the only park in the world bordering a city. Of the "Big Five" animals, only the elephant misses from this Savannah ecosystem. It's the ideal destination for visitors on stop over. It has the David Sheldrick trust sanctuary that cares for young orphaned rhinos and elephants. The park has over 80 mammal species and 400 diverse bird species. The park is perfect for family outings, bush dinners, picnics, team building exercises and weddings.

Nairobi National Museum is also another attraction in Kenya worth mentioning. The museum houses many artifacts and national treasures that showcase the history of Kenya. There is a botanical garden where unique plants are grown including medicinal and ornamental plants. The greatest attraction in this park is the snake park that houses cobras as well as mambas. Another interesting snake specie is the African rock python. Its also interesting that you will find American alligators and crocodiles at the aquariums in this place.
